The other equipment, stands, optical benches etc.., were literally thrown out.

---Too intensive to be taught at schools, and it was technology of the past.

At RGA they won an Academy Award for the Quad printer used on Predator. I remember when we still used it on commercials pre-CG.

I was there when a bunch of clueless PA's descended on it like hyenas on a carcas tearing it a apart with pliers and vice-grips. Its now at the "Museum of The Moving Image" in Queens, NY, with a couple of other stands.

Time marches on, usually for the better when technology is concerned, but it was sad when they took it down. -- Late eighties, might even have been '90.

I wonder where all that old equipment is? I believe the only printer ILM has is "the Anderson" printer, purchased from Howard Anderson Co. That was the printer that did the comps on "The Ten Commandments" and is on display in the main stairwell at the Presidio location. I wonder if George stored the Quad printer and other equipment, or scrapped it?

FX Guide Rocks, Thanks Marcus.

I came from that Optical, Oxberry / Mechanical Concepts / Animation Stand, Quad printer "World" ( Man, the days of "Cutting Edge" 5 inch floppy drives!!!) and still think in terms of putting it together via an "Optical Layout Sheet" when Creating / Directing an FX Shot.

---DAMN! ALL in all, (looking at the "Big Picture") things happened (Thankfully!!!!) fairly quickly... Still, "Best Schooling" in the Entire World!

Lived through it, GREAT (!!!) hearing it from another persons view.

Thanks Again...!!!
